Students from The British Higher School of Design have created theatrical costumes based on Shakespeare’s plays.

The plots and characters created by Shakespeare four hundred years ago still haven’t lost their significance and remain as relevant today as when they were written. We have delved inside of his fantasy worlds, where the thin line between fiction and reality can turn into a haze at any moment, and have decided to bring images from the world of dreams to our own world. Woven from sounds and words, his immortal characters have grown fur, leather, fabric, cardboard and plastic in order to step outside of their books into our dimension.

Besides costumes, there will be video installations and photographs presented at the exhibition which tell us about the characters’ experiences in our everyday life, as well as graphic interpretations of Shakespeare’s eternal plays. Visitors will be able to meet the characters within a mystical forest environment. They may find their place inside of the stories of the great English poet or, on the contrary, they might end up getting lost in labyrinths of fantasy.

During the opening day, on April 15th at 18:00, there will also be a live music performance by "Melassa" band that plays experimental jazz and folk music, as well as by one of our students Alexander Lapshin at 21:00.
